Biography
All About Laura Flores
Laura Marie Flores is a multidisciplinary artist born in Pasadena, Texas. She was raised in Houston, Texas. Flores was interested in art at a young age and her mother supported and gave her access to everything a young artist could ask for. Now as an adult, she focuses mostly in interactive sculptures, digital arts, and the art of crafting.
Flores was granted a scholarship and graduated with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in studio art at Houston Baptist University. She recently just graduated with a Master of Fine Arts in studio art back at Houston Baptist University with another scholarship. Although school takes up most of her time, she still likes to work on her digital art for her personal work during her free time.
Flores is greatly inspired by the human body. She explores different features of the body in her work. Flores’ work is meant to be interactive. The viewer can touch and even wear the pieces she makes. Her interactive pieces focus on the intricacy of being human in a humorous yet scientific way that engages with the viewers' five senses.
Flores has won many awards over the years since she was a child. In elementary she won first place in a drug-free poster art contest at her school. In middle school, she was a part of the UIL and won many awards in the art category. In high school, she won an award and had her art placed at the Houston livestock show and rodeo. In her second year at Houston Baptist University, she won best in 3d design, this award inspired her to focus on sculpture completely. Flores hopes to focus more on making sculptures and eventually teaching the subject as a professor soon.
